Conseguir Epiphyllum desde semilla

Esta es una explicación de cómo conseguir plantas de Epiphylum un cactus epífito, desde semilla polinizando la flor.

The first thing to do is to pollinate the flower.
The pollen is on the stamen.
The pollen should then be placed on the stigma. Below are 3 ways to pollinate an eppi.

(Lo primero que debe hacer es polinizar las flores. El polen se
está en los estambres, debe ponerlo entonces en el estigma. A
continuación se presentan tres maneras para polinizar un eppi.)




The flower parts

Just rub two flowers together.
(Simplemente frota dos flores)


TWO EPPI





Rub the stamen of one flower to the stigma of the other.
(Frote los estambres de una flor al estigma de la otra)


STAMIN AND STYLE

Let Nature do its thing.
(Dejar que la Naturaleza siga su curso)


FLOWER AND BEE

If done properly the seed pod will begin to swell.
(Si se realiza correctamente la vaina empezará a hincharse)


A FORMING SEED POD

If it didn't work the flower will wither and die.
(Si no ha funcionado, la flor se marchitará y morirá)


THE SEED POD WILTS

This is a ripe seed pod.
(Esta es una vaina de semilla madura)


RIPE SEED POD

A seed pod cut open similar to a kiwi the black specks are the seeds. 

(Esta es una vaina de la semilla abierta, es similiar a un kiwi. Las manchas negras son las semillas)


THE BLACK SPECKS ARE THE SEEDS

You scoop out the inside of the pod.
(Sacar el interior de la vaina)


SCOOPED OUT

You mush the pulp up to release the seeds.
(Aplastar la pulpa para separar las semillas)


THE BAD SEEDS WILL FLOAT




You put the seeds and pulp in water the bad seeds will float
.
(Poner las semillas y la pulpa en el agua, las semillas malas flotarán)


THE BAD SEEDS WILL FLOAT

You pour off the pulp.
(Retirar la pulpa)


POUR OFF THE PULP




Filter the seeds.

(Filtrar las semillas)


FILTER THE SEEDS

Seeds are placed on top of the soil then
lightly covered with soil then misted.
 

(Las semillas se colocan ligeramente cubiertas con tierra)


PLANT SEEDS

Put cover over the seeds to keep moist.
(Ponga la cubierta sobre las semillas para mantener la humedad)


COVER SEEDS

Grown near window for light and warmth.
(Colocar cerca de una ventana para que tengan luz y calor)


GROWN NEAR WINDOW FOR LIGHT AND WARMTH

At 7 months.
(A los 7 meses)

AT 7 MONTHS

After 7 months remove the cover.

(A los 7 meses quitar la tapa)


PLANT SEEDS

Carefully separate the plants and put them in 3" peat pots.

(Cuidadosamente separar las plantas y ponerlas en macetas de turba de 3")


SEPARATE PLANTS





When they have 2 stems at 15 months you put them in 4'' pots.
(A los 15 meses,cuando tengan 2 tallos ponerlas en macetas de 4")


SEPARATE PLANTS

21 months in the 4" pots.
(21 meses en las macetas de 4")


21 MONTHS




At 21 months they are transplanted into 6" pots. 

(A los 21 meses se trasplantan a macetas de 6")


21 MONTHS

At 5 years waiting for a bloom.

(A los 5 años a la espera de florecer)

  1. Me ha parecido muy interesante, la información me ha sido muy útil. Esperaré poder fecundar las flores para luego poder sembrar las semillas.

    1. me parece muy interesante pero pasa una cosa yo la tenia y se me perdio, y hace mucho tiempo que ando a ver si la consigo, pero me es muy dificial, me gustaria que me enviaran, yo se lo agradeceria y por supuesto se la pago, si alguien, me la manda o me dice en donde se puede conseguir, os ruego me lo digan al correo; ptm59@hotmail.com
